Frequently Asked Questions
What do I have to do?
The Receiver recommends that all consumers who engaged USA Student Debt Relief contact their student loan servicer both directly and as soon as possible to determine whether their account(s) are in good standing and to confirm the accuracy of their contact information, monthly payment amount (if any), and total outstanding balance. Consumers who do not know their loan servicer can find this information by logging in to their account on studentaid.gov. The Federal Student Aid Information Center (1-800-433-3243) is another resource. Because every situation is different, the Receiver cannot provide individualized advice, but generally, consumers should follow the instructions provided by their loan servicer with respect to their monthly payments. Please also review the articles and resources linked on the “Announcements” tab of this website.
Was USA Student Debt Relief making monthly loan payments on my behalf?
No. The Receiver is not aware of any evidence indicating that USA Student Debt Relief ever paid any amount to the federal government or to any loan servicer on behalf of any consumer. Instead, the amounts charged by USA Student Debt Relief were described as application fees, document preparation fees, monthly monitoring charges, and other similar items. The money the company collected from consumers was used to pay operating expenses (like telemarketer commissions) and salaries, profits, or other compensation to the company’s owners.
Was my student loan debt actually forgiven?
Based on available information and resources, the Receiver cannot answer this question. Consumers should contact their loan servicer directly.
Will I receive any more charges or bills from USA Student Debt Relief?
No. The company’s assets have been frozen by the federal court, and all payment systems have been disabled. If you are contacted by anyone claiming to collect money or otherwise act on behalf of USA Student Debt Relief, please email the Receiver immediately at Contact@USASDR-Receivership.com.
Can I get a refund?
At this point, the Receivership is in its early stages, and it is not yet possible to determine whether sufficient funds and legal grounds exist to issue refunds to consumers either through the Receivership or through the Federal Trade Commission. Unfortunately, the process can be lengthy, but please continue to monitor this website for updates and additional information. If a process is created to provide refunds to consumers, you will be informed.
